Corus International is actively seeking a Program Manager to join its International Programs Operations Department. This role reports directly to the Senior Regional Director, West Africa and Haiti and is an active member on the West Africa and Haiti team.

NOTE: This position offers a hybrid remote working arrangement and can be based at one of the Corus International offices located in Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD.

As a member of the West Africa & Haiti Team, the Program Manager provides programmatic, operational, administrative, and technical management to ensure success of the West Africa & Haiti Team, which includes health and livelihoods programming in Burkina Faso and Nigeria. The Program Manager will split his/her time between the two countries' health and livelihoods activities, according to need. The success of this role is measured by the following KRAs:

  • Provide effective day-to-day management of the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of health and livelihood programs.
  • Effectively manages a portfolio of projects valued up to $25 million funded by USDA.
  • Provide effective support for coordination, donor compliance requirements, and project design and implementation in the WA&H region.
  • Reconciles discrepancies in monthly programmatic reports and ensures submissions of finished reports to appropriate donors and internal contacts.


Project Management & Design

  • Contribute to the preparation of technical and financial reporting, including bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semiannual reports.
  • Contribute to the technical design of relevant country-specific interventions and projects, including research tasks.
  • Manage budgeting processes with creation and maintenance of budget formats/pivot tables and performing analyses of budgets and spending.
  • Liaise with International Finance Team on issues related to program management.
  • Process partner cash transfer requests.
  • Provide support to business development as requested, including conducting research and serving as reviewer for draft proposals.


  • Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure appropriate information flow within the portfolio.
  • Serve as primary liaison between the region's Program and Operations Department and the Senior Regional Director.
  • Serve as primary liaison with Global Relationships and Resources Team on activities related to communications and engagement. Draft content for success stories, website posts, and other communication products.
  • Lead event planning for the team, including organizing meetings and retreats.
  • Draft and circulate meeting minutes and other documents related to good management practice and transparent communication.


  • Support Programs Team to meet donor's compliance requirements, including the review of policies and development of products and reports required under donor-funded awards.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Agriculture, International Development, or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience. Experience must include supporting program implementation and management for an international development organization.
  • Experience in multi-sectoral programming, including health, livelihoods, education, agriculture, food security, and/or WASH.
  • Experience working and/or living in developing countries or the West Africa and Haiti region strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with host country counterparts and NGO (non-governmental organizations) /FBO (faith based organizations)/CBO (community based organizations) actors.
  • Demonstrated experience working with international donors, including USDA, USAID, MCC, CDC, DFID, and/or BMGF.
  • Experience with grant making and/or proposal writing preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of USG and other international donor funding mechanisms (including grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements).
  • Sound knowledge of international health best practices or the livelihoods and agriculture sector.
  • Understanding of research methodologies and approach.
  • Ability to be both a team leader and a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues when needed.
  • Ability to work independently with strong skills in organization, time management, and problem solving.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required.
  • Working professional level of proficiency in oral and written French required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Must take initiative and deliver high quality products in a timely manner.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, including experience working with professional and support staff in a multicultural, multi-linguistic environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time annually, including to hardship locations. Flexibility and ability to travel on short notice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Salesforce software preferred.

Working Conditions, Travel and Environment:

  • Corus has a hybrid work policy, allowing work to be done remotely; 2-3 days/week minimum in the office is required. The employee must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.
  • This position must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business purposes. While performing the duties of this job in different locations, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as to infectious diseases.
